I need that mount and backplate, and a couple of nuts maybe. The cooler itself doesn't even reach the motherboard. Can't over tighten much with a tiny screw driver. I usually use an 'electronics' sized screw driver when dealing with anything with mounting pressure. Needs to be firm, not tightened to any extremes. Mounting pressure is a concern, I would say stop as soon as the cooler doesn't provide enough torque with a gentle twist to move it. It would be difficult to hold together during the mounting, but at this point the motherboard should be out of the computer. Though it is still likely possible by dismantling the spring loaded thumbscrews and adding in nuts on both ends. If it were the other kind where the threaded posts come from the backplate it would be even easier. If there are posts involved, yeah, probably not going to work too well as there would be a large gap. It might be Nut, backplate, post with threads and then the cooler. I'm trying to recall from the pictures how the evo 212 goes together. But if that isn't an option it shouldn't be too difficult to make it work. Agreed, I would just go out and buy a cooler.
